Application Method of Water-based Laminating Adhesive
Common Faults&Reasons of Paper & Plastic Laminating (only for reference):
The paper & plastic laminating products shall have firm gluing&clean&even surface,&the surface shall be free from blistering, binding, wrinkling, breaking&overflowing, etc. Factors influencing laminating quality include objective&subjective ones. It involves the environment factors (indoor moisture, temperature&dust, etc) of the operation place, paper factors (ink, paper type&printing method, etc), adhesive&film used by paper & plastic laminating, technical conditions,&operation method, as well as structure&technical performance of laminating machine, etc. Therefore, comprehensive analysis is required.
Basic Principle of Laminating Operation
1、Laminating with our products can be carried out only after drying of printing ink;
2、Before application of the adhesive, the gluing roller shall be cleaned;
3、Mixing with other adhesives is forbidden. During the application, self-added water is forbidden;
4、The adhesive is sprayed on the surface to be laminated evenly, which adheres with paper directly. The quantity of adhesive shall be decided by the paper, ink&film (surface tension > 39 dyne/cm3). The pressure shall not exceed the number that make the adhesive overflow;
5、In principle, the laminating shall be carried out after powder spraying;
6、Addition of dryer in ink is forbidden,&the mass production can be carried out only after qualified sample;
7、During exchange of roller, the pause period shall not too long, to prevent drying of adhesive in the roller;
8、Start cutting after roller collection&transparence of the composite products;
9、Cutting&concavo-convex rolling can be carried out after solidification&drying of adhesive of finished products. During laminating&mounting, strongly alkaline adhesive is forbidden, to prevent mould, blistering&level separation, etc of laminating products;
10、After application, clean the machine&tools with water;
11、Mass production can be carried out only after qualified sampling. It is applicable to bronzing, gold-printing&silver-printing products, with comparatively long solidification period. In most cases, it is not quite applicable to gold-printing products.
Uneven Composite Products
1. Too large film tension. Too large tension during production causes contraction due to stress after cutting; 2. too moist paper&insufficient paper density; 3. too large binding tension that cause deformation of film; 4. too long storage period after binding,&too long solidification period after laminating between film&paper.
Large Clearance in Connection Place of Laminated Paperboard
1. Too large binding tension that causes deformation of film connection; 2. too small pressure of laminating roller; 3. not enough paper density that causes deformation after damping; 4. inconsistent speeds of laminating roller&delivering paperboard; 5. too tight binding device,&too large film tension.
Color Change after mounting of Composite Products
1. Too much adhesive for laminating; 2. alkaline laminating adhesive; 3. color change due to chemical reaction after damping of laminating adhesive,&even falling-off in severe case.
Radial Stripes
1. Too thick adhesive, which causes adhesive drawing;
2. Too small laminating pressure;
3. Uneven surface of gluing roller,|cuts in the gluing roller, which causes uneven gluing thickness;
4. Uneven film, which causes uneven gluing.
Horizontal (Adhesive Stripe) of Composite Products
1. Eccentricity of gluing roller; 2. jumping of binding roller; 3. jumping of pressure roller
Blistering of the Middle Part of Composite Products
1. Dryer added during printing (expansion&blistering of BOPP film before full drying of the dryer); 2. too little adhesive; 3. foreign matters in surface of film|printed matters; 4. too small pressure, which causes incomplete air extrusion during laminating of paper, film&adhesive; 5. dirt in the film surface,|insufficient adhesive during gluing.
